In the 1970s, the US Mobility Equipment Research & Design Command (MERDC) developed a system of camouflage patterns for US Army vehicles. Each camouflage pattern consists of 4 colors (two primary and two secondary colors); the conditions of the local terrain determined which of the patterns were to be used.
