The 2000 series was introduced in 2012 by a ministerial ordinance of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, with the numbering changed to add 1000 to the original car number in order to distinguish between passenger company-owned vehicles and those with or without safety devices.
EF65-2127 is characterized by its mustard-colored connecting doors.
