Equipped with rear-mounted engines, all-wheel drive, and a 25 mm anti-tank gun, 551 vehicles entered service before 1940. During spring 1940 operations with French cavalry units, these machines saw combat against German forces. Following French defeat, over 200 captured examples were integrated into Wehrmacht and Waffen SS service under the designation Pz.späh.204 (f).
