The Freewing F-35 Lightning II V3 is Freewing's most popular 70mm EDF jet, and for good reason: it looks the part, flies predictably and runs on the same 6S packs as larger 80mm and 90mm jets. This is the PNP (plug-n-play) version, with the motor, 12-blade fan, 80A ESC, servos and electric retracts already installed. Add your receiver, battery and radio and you're ready to fly.
It suits intermediate pilots stepping up to their first EDF jet, and experienced pilots wanting an affordable, grass-capable scale jet for the club field.

What You Need to Fly
- 6+ channel radio transmitter and receiver
- 6S 22.2V LiPo, 3500–4500mAh, with EC5 connector (4000mAh recommended): see our LiPo batteries
- 6S-compatible LiPo charger

Why Pilots Love the Freewing F-35 V3
- Licensed scale detail: officially licensed by Lockheed Martin, with accurate nose and tail shapes, stealth facets, RAM panelling, multi-colour factory decals and the EF-01 Edwards AFB tail flash.
- Proper 6S power: a 2957-2210kV inrunner and 12-blade 70mm EDF give fast passes and confident take-offs from short grass, with 4–5 minutes of mixed-throttle flight.
- Grass-field friendly: electric retracts with aluminium oleo struts and a trailing-link nose gear absorb rough landings and uneven taxiing.
- Tough where it matters: EPO foam, carbon spars and reinforced plastic-to-plastic elevator hinges, the weak points of earlier F-35 models, redesigned.
- Easy to own: no-glue, screw-together assembly (about 1 hour), detachable wings for transport, and a top-loading battery bay with room for a receiver and gyro.
- Shares batteries with bigger jets: uses the same 6S 4000–5000mAh packs as Freewing's 80mm and 90mm EDFs.

Freewing F-35 FAQs
Is the Freewing F-35 70mm a good first jet?
Yes, if you can already fly a 4-channel sport plane confidently. It's designed as a 70mm jet trainer that teaches throttle management, coordinated turns and landings before you move up to 80mm and 90mm EDFs.
What battery does the Freewing F-35 70mm use?
A 6S 22.2V LiPo between 3500 and 4500mAh with an EC5 connector. A 4000mAh pack gives the best balance of flight time and weight. A 5000mAh fits but adds weight.
What does PNP mean?
Plug-n-play. The motor, fan, ESC, servos and retracts are installed. You add your own receiver, battery and transmitter.
Can the F-35 take off from grass?
Yes. The electric retracts, aluminium oleo struts and trailing-link nose gear are designed for short grass runways.
