Description
The JJ-7 is designed based on the J-7II fighter jet and uses a tandem two-seat cockpit instead of a single-seat cockpit. The student driver is in the front seat and the instructor is in the back seat. The original single ventral fin used for vertical stability on the lower fuselage of the J-7 was replaced by an enlarged double ventral fin design. Due to the additional rear seats, the J-7 has a smaller internal fuel tank capacity than the J-7II. An additional fuel tank was added to the rear of the fuselage, between the canopy and the vertical tail. The J-7's cockpit cover that flips backwards is replaced by a double-hinged cockpit cover that opens to the right.
