Description
The M1A1 Abrams was formalized as the main battle tank of the U.S. in August 1984. The 105mm rifled cannon that the early M1 Abrams was equipped with was replaced with a 120mm smoothbore cannon, greatly enhancing its attack power. Equipped with a high-precision fire control system and a gas turbine engine that boasts an output of 1,500 horsepower, it showed overwhelming combat power by destroying many T-72 tanks in the first Gulf War ground battle in February 1991. After that, various modifications continued, and in January 2023, the U.S. government decided to provide approximately 30 Abrams as support for the Ukrainian Army to confront the invasion of the Russian Army.
This limited-release model kit from Tamiya features realistic detailing, such as the grille in the engine room and welding marks on the armor plates; the turret made of flat surfaces and the powerful 120mm smoothbore cannon are realistically modeled. The nylon mesh cover for the turret rear rack is included, and crawler belts are used; decals are included for a white cross, which is a symbol of victory in Ukraine, and the Ukrainian national flag too.
